Due to these developments, they’ve had to adapt their algorithms in order to adapt to how users consume and digest information.

Recent years have seen an exponentially growing number of people reading texts on smartphones. Before 2015, content read via mobile devices did not impact overall SEO ranking, but that changed when Google released their update that allowed mobile websites to be ranked according to how responsive they were, giving both developers and marketers something beyond keywords to focus on when considering search rankings.
